Preamble

As the premier organization solely representing CalSTRS retired educators, CalRTA believes
that all educators have the right to retire with dignity. We have the right to a secure and safe
retirement that includes: a pension that retains its full purchasing power; access to affordable
quality health care; and protection for our safety and well-being. To ensure these benefits for
current and future retirees, CalRTA will support legislation, CalSTRS policies, regulations, and
state ballot propositions that protect and enhance retired educators’ health, safety, and
CalSTRS retiree benefits funded by public education resources. CalRTA will oppose actions
that are contrary to these goals.

Mission Statement

CalRTA’s mission is to protect and advocate for retired and active educators’ pensions
and other retirement benefits, and to support public education funding in our communities.
