In 2004 the then Executive Director, Susan Goff, coordinated the “big, hairy, audacious” project of compiling a 75^th Anniversary Booklet. Only a few of these remain and the computer files were lost!

Now in 2019 we are celebrating our 90^th Anniversary of the California Retired Teacher Association and we celebrate the rich history we have. We are inspired by the Shoulders We Stand On. This project is now a tribute to the people who declined to accept the status quo, who refused to be intimidated. They were dynamic, energetic, empowered activists.

In 1961 the leaders started collecting the history with first-hand memoirs of our first presidents and events of the early days. This original was edited and updated in 1973. Susan Goff combined, edited and updated again for her project in 2004.

It is now my hope that this history will be retained and updated for the future. By keeping this history alive, we honor them and remind ourselves that we can achieve success in our time!
