Richard A. Hoffmann
1977-1978

Richard Hoffmann presided over the implementation of the new governance structure and new guidelines issued for area directors to facilitate the one-day area workshop sessions. The new governance offered divisions more democracy and representation. Retirement meetings were increased to 26; the life membership option was discontinued on July 1, 1978.

Cancer ended President Hoffmann’s presidency whose hallmark had been “Organized Creativity.” His final message was, “there is a bond almost indefinable that ties us all together in CalRTA.” He bequeathed $1,500 for new office equipment.

The Hoffmann Membership Awards were initiated to honor Mr. Hoffmann’s contributions to CalRTA.
