Polly Bacich
2009 – 2011
The two years Polly served as president were marked by 2 specific issues.
- There was an indication that membership was beginning a decline. Not dramatically, but enough that there were indications that this could be a significant problem soon if CalRTA did not explore some new approaches.
- The matter that was of most concern was leadership at the division level. It was obvious at area workshops that the same leaders were seen, year after year. A committee was informed, chaired by an area director and a member from each area. The committee was included in the budget and proceeded making contacts. After 2 years it produced little results and it was felt it should be disbanded and new approaches be considered.
The trip to Washington DC meeting with the staff of Congressman. Tom McClintock, produced no results concerning the repeal of the WEP/GPO.
An issue with an officer on the Board made CalRTA state operations chaotic. The officer was ultimately censured.
